On my way over to visit a small monastery, I heard loud and heavy rock music coming from the other side of the large walls surrounding Innwa. I went over to find out what the commotion was, and saw a line of perhaps 50 ladies dressed in the most colourful and elegant of traditional dresses. Following them, a giant of an elephant with red and yellow robes, large grey floppy ears with white tips almost covering it's eyes and a 3 man carriage resting high on its back. As it passed it reached its trunk up into it's mouth, and with a swinging motion of its trunk sprayed water back between its legs soaking the man walking behind; everyone watching on either side of the road (I was the only foreigner) started laughed. Trailing behind him, were 20 or so decorated horses with elegantly dressed boys and girls, looking like princes and princesses, and each with a man walking beside the horse holding up a very tall umbrella above them. Behind them were perhaps 30-40 large white bull paired up, all with the peculiar large hump above their shoulder blades, decorated head to tail, and pulling colourful wagon/carts. Finally came a large 2 story tall band bus, with an open top and a live band playing the heavy rock I had heard from so far away. Though I am not sure what all the excitement was about, I figure it must be something of great importance, such as a marriage between rich families. It was an incredible parade showcasing many interesting aspects of wealth and culture, but I couldn't help but feel bad for some of the animals, some of which I noticed were foaming a bit at the mouth.
